DRAFT — PENDING COUNSEL REVIEW
These pages are a working draft. They document intended policy and terms; language and scope are pending final counsel review.
Last updated: 2026-04-22. Effective: 2026-04-22.
1. Introduction
Skutrail, Inc. ("Skutrail", "we", "our", "us") operates the website at skutrail.com and the Skutrail infrastructure service for physical commerce. This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it. It applies to visitors of skutrail.com and to people who request access to the private beta via the request-access form.
2. Data we collect
We collect two narrow categories of data:
- Lead form submissions. When you submit the request-access form, we collect your email address (required), and optionally your name, company, role, product interest, and scale of operation. This data is delivered to our forms vendor (Formspree) and to Skutrail operators.
- Site analytics. We use Plausible for privacy-respecting site analytics. Plausible does not use cookies and does not collect personal identifiers. We see aggregated page views, referrer domains, and approximate country, derived from IP without storing the IP.
We do not operate user accounts, do not set tracking cookies, and do not embed advertising or third-party marketing scripts. The only client-side preference we persist is your theme selection (next-themes), stored in your browser's local storage and never sent to our servers.
3. How we use your data
We use lead form submissions to respond to access requests, to evaluate fit for private beta, and to send occasional updates about beta availability. We do not sell your data. We do not build marketing profiles. We do not share lead data with third-party advertisers.
We use aggregated analytics to understand which pages visitors read, which products attract interest, and how to prioritize documentation improvements. Aggregated analytics cannot be tied back to individual visitors.
4. Third parties we share with
Skutrail relies on a short list of named service providers:
- Formspree — receives and stores your request-access form submissions.
- Plausible — processes privacy-respecting, cookie-less site analytics.
- Render — hosts skutrail.com and processes inbound HTTPS traffic.
- next-themes — client-side library (not a vendor); stores your theme preference in your browser only.
We share only what is necessary for each provider to perform its function. We do not share data with advertising networks.
5. Data retention
Lead form submissions are retained until you request deletion. Aggregated analytics are retained in rolling 30-day windows; individual page view records are not stored beyond this window.
6. Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom (GDPR): you have the right to access, correct, delete, export, and object to processing of your personal data. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident (CCPA / CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we have collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information in the CCPA sense.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@skutrail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Cookies and local storage
Skutrail does not set tracking cookies. The only client-side storage we use is your browser's local storage, set by the next-themes library, to remember your theme selection between visits. This is not transmitted to our servers.
8. Children's privacy
Skutrail is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted data through our forms, contact privacy@skutrail.com and we will delete it.
9. International data transfers
Skutrail is a US company. If you are accessing the site from outside the United States, your data may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States by us and by our service providers. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses with processors that operate across the EEA-US boundary.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or in applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will also email anyone who has submitted the request-access form.
11. Contact
Questions about this policy, or requests to exercise rights described in Section 6, should go to privacy@skutrail.com. For general inquiries, use hello@skutrail.com.
